JOURNEY TO BATHALA CAVE

After more than a year of hibernating, this furry little feet of mine is now starting to get excited for more adventures.

So, I want you to come with me to a good place to jump start our come back, and have a great bunny hopping experience. Where? We will now be going to the Bathala "Deity" Cave.

The entrance to the first cave a.k.a. Church Cave

Actually, it is not a single cave. It is a series of caves that can, again, be found in the island of Marinduque situated at Brgy. Ipil, town of Sta. Cruz. There are 8 caves with names, and other caves, more or less 2dozens of caves that are still unnamed.

Anyway, among these caves, you can only go to a few of them and that will also depend on your budget. hahaha.

So if you are ready, let's meet up at Brgy. Landy, Sta. Cruz, Marinduque and this will be our staring point to our adventure.

Brgy. Landy intersection

Brgy. Landy is more or less 21 kms away from the town proper of Mogpog. There, just near the cockpit arena, you will find an intersection (left if you will be coming from Mogpog) going to inner Barrios of Sta. Cruz. We will be starting from this location, and we will have a 25 minutes ride before we get to the actual place.

We are in the right track

Welcome to Bathala Cave

Okay, so we are now at the entrance. Here, we will be greeted by our very nice tour guide, Kuya Alex. And since we will be needing his service, we have to pay certain amount of fee before we start our cave experience. There is a P50.00 per head entrance fee and a guide fee of P300 for 2 caves, P400 for 3 caves. In our case, we are 6 persons and 3 caves so that is.....

Wait, let me count....

6 x 50 = 300
3 caves = 400

So we paid P700 for our trip.

Meet Kuya Alex. Our Tour Guide

The Church Cave

And this is the start of our adventure. The first cave we went in to is the Church Cave. The largest among the series of caves. And also the most famous one. It is called the church cave because of it's natural Cathedral like interior. The most important of the tour should be the history, or should I say "Legend" or "Myth" about this cave. But, we intentionally missed that part. hahahaha.

Before we went out of this first cave, Kuya Alex showed us something amazing. He asked us if we know Simba from "The Lion King" (Who wouldn't know The Lion King). The reason is because there is a rock formation there and if you look at it from the right angle, you will see a head of a lion.

Amazing right?

The Python Cave

So on to the next cave which is the "Python Cave". Yes, you've heard it right. The reason why this cave is called the python cave is because this is a resting place for the pythons after the hunt. And the best experience you can get from this cave is if you can see a python or more. You will be able to say that you adventure is not wasted. haha

You want to see a python? here you go.

Did I mention that we went to 3 caves?

Oh yes I did. So after the first two caves, we will now be going to the last cave in our destination. And that is the "Secret Cave".

The Secret Cave

And yes again, you heard it right. It is called the secret cave. What is the reason? It is a secret of course. If you want to find out then you have to go there personally. :)

Our experience in this cave is unbelievably crazy. And it is also a secret that I don't want to tell. So let us see what this cave looks like.

I almost forgot to tell, this third cave has a beautiful rock formation just after you enter. Here is how it looks like.

So those are the three caves. We never had a chance to visit the other caves because you know, more caves, more fees. So, we didn't even bother to even take a peak to other caves. But if you want you can visit other caves. There is the Lagoon Cave, the River Cave, the Cemetery Cave and others.

And that's about it for our adventure here at the Bathala Series of Caves. I hope you enjoyed our trip and I hope to see you next time in another adventure with yours truly The Island Bunny.

Bye bye for now...
